The energy in Bangalore is electric! We just kicked off the first-ever gRPC Conf in India, and the turnout is nothing short of spectacular. With attendees flying in from cities like Pune and nearly a third of the room traveling from outside Bangalore, it is clear that the gRPC community is more vibrant than ever.
As we celebrate the 11th year of gRPC, we aren’t just looking back at a decade of success; we are looking forward to a future of massive scale and community-driven innovation.
🌐 From Incubation to Graduation: The CNCF Journey
For those who may not know, gRPC is a proud member of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), the same home as the legendary Kubernetes. Currently, gRPC sits in the incubating state, but we are about to hit a massive milestone.
Within the next few weeks, the team will submit the initial proposal for official graduation within the CNCF. This transition signals a level of maturity, stability, and adoption that few open-source projects reach. To support this move, we officially formed the gRPC Steering Committee, featuring key contributors like:
- Lucio Franco: A powerhouse behind the Tonic library and the broader Rust ecosystem within gRPC.
- Antoine from DataDog: A vital contributor who has helped shape the project’s reliability.

We listen to our users. A few years ago, the feedback was clear: gRPC was perceived as one of the harder open-source projects to use. Developers felt our documentation and samples lagged behind other major projects.
We took that challenge personally. Over the last year, we launched a massive effort to bridge this gap by providing:
